Tray space is the constraint most catering buyers underestimate. A 10 inch round plate fills a standard tray corner to corner, so a main course arrives with nowhere to put the side, the bread or the cutlery. An oval plate solves it geometrically: 263 × 200mm at 10.3 inch diagonal holds the same main course but leaves two flat edges along the tray, which is why airline, hospital and contract catering specs tend to be oval rather than round.

The plate is AP-P117, moulded from 100% sugarcane bagasse fibre at 16g in white or natural, 22mm deep. That depth matters more than it sounds: a plate shallower than 20mm cannot carry a curry or a pasta with sauce without the sauce reaching the rim, and a plate deeper than 25mm stops stacking cleanly in a dispenser. Freezer safe and microwave safe are both specified, which is what allows the same plate to be used for prep, service and reheat rather than three different items.

Three oval sizes are produced on the same material: the 9 inch oval at 13g, this 10.3 inch at 16g and a 12.6 inch at 28g, which covers a side plate, a main and a sharing platter. Packing is consistent across the oval range — 125pcs per bag, 4 bags per case, 500 plates to a carton — so a buyer can mix sizes in a container without recalculating carton counts.
